The Godard Sessions: Introduction
The Godard Sessions are discussions groups focusing on readings around and discussions of the films of Jean-Luc Godard and, more specifically, radical, politically engaged cultural practice within the context of France in the 1960s. The group sets out to explore notions of ‘the radical’ through various case studies and to discuss its relvance for contemporary practice: what, from this historical period, is still relevant? what models does these examples provide in terms of links between art and political activism? what can we take, recycle and incorporate into artistic practice today given the different socio-political contexts we’re now facing?
